Kirkcudbright

On Thursday I visited the library and picked up a Dorothy L Sayers novel I’d never read before. It turned out to be set in the county of Dumfries & Galloway (D&G) and Kirkcudbright in particular. By coincidence I’d been toying with the idea of visiting D&G so obviously, I took this as a sign. When I discovered Kirkcudbright boasted a fine little campsite my mind was made up. I packed up Camping Cat and my ‘country cottage’ (i.e. tent) and headed south (and west).

It’s been a jolly weekend. The town is stunning, the surroundings picturesque and the weather has been glorious. I’ve been lollopping over hills and shores, pottering round town and patronising several local businesses.

This is another location to add to my ever growing list of “places I’d like to live if money were no object and I didn’t need to work for a living”.

Books of the trip: ‘Five red herrings‘ by Dorothy L Sayers and ‘Greenmantle‘ by John Buchan.
