WHW – day5

Buachaille Etive Mòr from White Corries

A tough but enjoyable day on the Way today. Oddly, the worst section was the 4 or 5 mile valley walk along the bottom of Glen Coe. It felt like such a trauchle, somehow.

My spirits lifted as I started the climb up the infamous Devil’s Staircase, even though the rain set in with a vengeance then too. From the summit the path was fairly up and downish for the next several miles but the landscape was breathtaking. Especially when the sun came out to play for a while.

The descent to Kinlochleven was long and harsh on my knees. However, my lochside campsite is lovely, and the afternoon sun has nearly dried my soggy shoes.
